Narrator's POV
“Hello there!” Sungmin chirped, beaming brightly.
“H-hello!” Kyuhyun said shyly.
“Oh quit it guys,” Sungmin scolded, glaring at the other members. “He’s new here.”
Kyuhyun smiled nervously, looking at the 11 guys that were currently staring at him intensely. “You’re lucky you’re sharing a room with me,” Sungmin said, pulling Kyuhyun by the arm into their now shared bedroom.
Kyuhyun tagged along, dragging his belongings into the room behind him. “I’m Kyuhyun,” he said and bowed just as soon as Sungmin closed the door behind them, locking it along the way.
“Don’t be so formal,” Sungmin laughed. “I’m nice, not like them. My name’s Sungmin!”
“H-hyung?” Kyuhyun tried.
“I guess I am, I’m an 86’ liner. How about you?”
“88’,” Kyuhyun answered.
“Alright!” Sungmin yelled. “I have another cute little dongsaeng!”
Kyuhyun blushed as Sungmin pinched his cheeks. “Hyung~,” he whined but that only made Sungmin squealed louder and pinched his cheeks harder.
“Come on, I’ll help you unpack,” Sungmin said after releasing Kyuhyun’s reddened cheeks. “The left side is your side. The right is mine. Same goes for the closet. I’ve even emptied it out!”
“Thanks hyung,” Kyuhyun smiled and both started unpacking and arranging all of Kyuhyun’s clothing and belongings into the room.
“We’re done!” Sungmin declared after an hour. “That wasn’t so bad huh?!”
Kyuhyun could only nod, mentally slapping himself that he found Sungmin’s bubbly-ness cute. “H-hyung…” he started.
“Hmm?” Sungmin asked. “Is there anything you need?”
“D-do you sleep with the lights off?” Kyuhyun asked in a very low voice that Sungmin could barely hear.
“Yes, of course I do. I can’t sleep with the lights on,” Sungmin said. “Why?”
“O-oh… nothing,” Kyuhyun said.
Sungmin shrugged, letting it go. “It’s 11pm now. We have to sleep. Tomorrow will be the start of your hectic idol life!” he declared.
Kyuhyun smiled weakly as he settled himself on the bed.
“Good night Kyuhyun!” Sungmin said, switching off the lights and then jumping onto his bed to sleep.
“Night hyung,” came Kyuhyun’s soft voice.
The duo then fell silent, with Sungmin sleeping immediately, worn out by his chaotic schedule. Kyuhyun though, couldn’t sleep. He wasn’t used to sleeping in the dark. He hated the dark. It was only an hour later that Sungmin realized Kyuhyun’s soft whimpering. “Kyuhyun?” he called out gently. “Are you still awake?”
“H-hyung?” Kyuhyun asked. “D-did I wake you up?”
“No, no,” Sungmin assured as he jumped out of bed again and turned on the lights. “Why are you still awake?”
Kyuhyun sighed in relief as he saw the lights flicker on and then it dawned to Sungmin. “You can’t sleep with the lights off can’t you?” he asked.
Kyuhyun suddenly blushed. “S-sorry,” he mumbled.
“Oh, why didn’t you tell me!” Sungmin exclaimed.
“Y-you said you can’t sleep with the lights o-on,” Kyuhyun stuttered, a little afraid that Sungmin will turn angry that he made him wake up just because of a childish fear.
“We can work something out!” Sungmin chirped. “Don’t be scared of me!”
Kyuhyun simply smiled, nervous. “Let’s put our beds together then!” Sungmin declared suddenly.
“W-what?”
“Let’s put it together, so that we’ll sleep together and you won’t have to be scared!”
“H-hyung…”
“I won’t tell anyone else, I promise!” Sungmin said, holding out his pinkie finger.
Kyuhyun laughed slightly, taking the older’s pinkie with his own. “T-thanks hyung,” he said shyly.
Sungmin chuckled heartily, ruffling his hair. “Let’s go. I need your help to push them together. And we need to push the dressing table to the side too. We’ll put the beds in the middle, shall we?”
Kyuhyun nodded, got off his bed and both began rearranging the beds. Finally after 10 minutes or so, they were done. Sungmin went to the lights and switched it off before going back onto the bed, lying beside Kyuhyun. He felt Kyuhyun shivering slightly and so he pulled the younger male into his big blanket and pulled him into his arms. “Let’s sleep,” he whispered when he felt Kyuhyun’s body relaxed.
Kyuhyun, for the first time was glad that it was dark because he was by then, blushing furiously at their close body contact. But soon enough, Sungmin’s warmth lulled him into a deep sleep.
/Morning
Just like any other morning, Eeteuk’s scream echoed throughout the whole dorm, jolting everyone awake. Kyuhyun in particular, was not used to the screams. He groaned as he hugged the pillow tighter, loving how it fitted perfectly against his skin.
“Kyuhyun,” Sungmin whined, wiggling as Kyuhyun’s hold tightened around him. “Wake up. We have lots of schedules this morning.”
Kyuhyun groaned again as his eyes fluttered open. “H-hyung?” he stammered as he saw Sungmin’s face up close. His eyes widened again as he realized how they were practically tangled up together. He pulled his hands away and sat up abruptly. “S-sorry.”
“How adorable,” Sungmin cooed, pinching his cheeks. “It’s okay, it’s nice having company.”
“You two lovebirds awake yet?!” Heechul sudden scream interrupted them as he burst into the room.
“Sorry what?” Sungmin hissed, unaffected unlike the blushing Kyuhyun.
“You two were basically interwoven together while you sleep,” Heechul shrugged. “I don’t even want to know why the beds are put together…”
“Hyung,” Sungmin snarled. “I love you, so don’t make me take out my nunchucks.”
Heechul rolled his eyes but stopped his teasing nonetheless. Sungmin with nunchucks is pretty terrifying. “Just get off the bed; we’re leaving in an hour. You too new kid,” he snorted and left quickly.
“H-hyung?” Kyuhyun tried, tugging on the half fuming Sungmin's sleeves. “W-what do you d-do with nunchucks?”
Sungmin faces softened as he heard Kyuhyun's soft voice. “Nothing,” he chuckled. “That was just to scare Heechul away. Don’t worry; I don’t hurt people unless they’re really asking for it.”
Kyuhyun nodded unsurely. “Hey seriously,” Sungmin laughed. “I won’t hurt you. If I want to I would have done it the whole night we’re together right?”
Kyuhyun finally cracked a bright smile. “Okay,” he mumbled shyly, blushing again remembering how he had hugged Sungmin earlier on.
“Come on. We need to take a shower before Eunhae wakes up. They’re going to take forever in the bathroom,” Sungmin said, pulling Kyuhyun's arms out of the door.
Kyuhyun learned that day that Hyukjae and Donghae indeed take forever to finish showering. He should have listened to Sungmin when Sungmin had told him to not let them pass first. He was new and frightened of the hyungs, so what could he do? He had to spend just a mere minute in the showers just so that the members won’t leave him behind.
In the months that passed soon, Sungmin and Kyuhyun grew very close together. They became best friends, so close that even Hyukjae was envious that Kyuhyun stole his bestfriend away. “Donghae took you away from me,” Sungmin had said, chuckling silently while Hyukjae whined how unfair it was that Kyuhyun was close to him. “It’s fair.”
The members weren’t the best in accepting Kyuhyun and Sungmin had often find Kyuhyun crying to something the members had picked him on. “What’s wrong?” he had asked one day when he found Kyuhyun on their bed, hugging his knees child likely and crying.
“E-Eeteuk hyung,” Kyuhyun hiccupped. He knew better than to lie to Sungmin. In just the short amount of time that he was in Super Junior, he found out that everyone fears Sungmin. It was mostly because he was very well trained in martial arts but sometimes Kyuhyun had wondered that there was definitely something else about Sungmin that just makes people fear him. Sungmin was the type who doesn’t cry in public but prefer taking a short break in the bathroom where he would cry his hearts out for a full minute before going back outside, his façade on again. Sungmin was the type that hates lies. Sungmin was the type that does not show his true feelings, not even to the members.
“What did he do this time?” Sungmin growled.
“M-my ramen doesn’t taste nice,” Kyuhyun mumbled adorably. “I-I added too much water…”
Sungmin's face softened as he heard the slight crack in the younger’s voice. “Aww,” he cooed. “That’s alright. I added three bowls of water when I first cooked ramen. And it was for only one packet!”
Sungmin's white lie successfully got Kyuhyun's eyes shining again. “Really?” he asked, laughing slightly.
Sungmin nodded vigorously. “Yea,” he exclaimed. “And I even managed to overcook it! Can you imagine it?! I put three bowls of water and overcooked it? It was a disaster!”
Kyuhyun burst out laughing as Sungmin demonstrated his failure with all kinds of different expression. Sungmin frowned. “It’s not funny!” he said, mocking hurt.
“Y-you should have seen your face hyung!” Kyuhyun laughed, holding onto his stomach.
Soon though Sungmin joined in, laughing along, loving how their voices harmonize naturally. “Alright,” he said as they finally stopped. “Go to sleep. We still have schedules in the morning tomorrow. Don’t feel so bad, Eeteuk hyung was just tired.”
Kyuhyun nodded. “Thanks hyung,” he said. “You’re the best.”
“I know,” Sungmin laughed. “Now go on, I won’t turn off the lights yet. I want to get a drink first.”
Kyuhyun smiled thankfully as he slipped into the blanket, watching Sungmin leave the room.
“Park. Jung. Soo!” Sungmin snarled, barging in into Eeteuk's room. He didn’t even wince at the sight that greeted him. Kangin and Eeteuk were practically already half naked, eating each other’s face.
“Don’t you know how to knock?!” Kangin shouted, furious at the intrusion.
“You!” Sungmin growled, pointing at Kangin with his small nunchucks that he managed to slip out of the room without Kyuhyun noticing. “Shut up.”
“I’m your freaking hyung!” Kangin retorted but dare not approach the fuming Sungmin while the small but deadly weapon was still in his grasp.
“What do you want Sungmin?” Eeteuk hissed, just as angry as Kangin was. “And use formalities!”
“Respect,” Sungmin started sharply. “Is not given just because you’re older. It is earned.”
“What?” Eeteuk and Kangin asked, quite dumbly.
“If you ever dare to make Kyuhyun cry again just because of some stupid ramen,” Sungmin warned. “This little friend here /waves nunchucks/ will go straight into your face. You want a perfect ramen, cook it yourself.”
And just like that Sungmin left, storming. But as soon as he reached his room, he calmed himself down and entered gently.
Following the incident, the members had been gentler with Kyuhyun subsequent to Sungmin's consistent warning. But in fact, they grew on him. He has a nice personality and a very captivating voice. They were nicer to him now, not because of Sungmin's glares but because they sincerely like him and soon, Sungmin did not feel the need to keep warning the members to be nicer to Kyuhyun.
After several more months, the members saw changes in Sungmin. Sungmin who used to be tensed and serious was now bubbly and steaming with happiness. Of course, only when Kyuhyun is around that is. Sungmin and Kyuhyun didn’t realize it yet of course, but the members did. They were in love with each other. More than they can even imagine.
It was during their first win on music bank after Kyuhyun’s debut… Sungmin was as excited as a newly named mother. He was jumping around in their shared bedroom when his excitement caused him to kiss a stun Kyuhyun. It was a moment later that he fully realized what he just did and froze. “Oh god,” he mumbled. “I-I’m sorry…”
He made to run out of the room when Kyuhyun pulled him back in, locked the door, turned him around and kissed him again. Hard. “If you want to kiss me,” he breathed against the older’s lips as they broke apart. “Do it properly.”
Sungmin blushed. “K-kyu,” he stammered.
“I think I love you,” Kyuhyun muttered, lips still touching.
“I-I think I love you too,” Sungmin beamed and pulled the younger male close again, this time gentle and loving.
Kyuhyun, soon grew impatient and pushed the younger male against the wall. Sungmin gasped in shock and Kyuhyun took the chance to slip his tongue in his mouth, tasting every crook and corner of it. Kyuhyun had never been a fan of chocolates but Sungmin’s chocolate-flavoured mouth is certainly an exception.
Sungmin grabbed a fistful of Kyuhyun’s dark hair, moaning shamelessly as Kyuhyun sucked on the sensitive skin on his neck. “Damn it Kyu,” he cursed, eyes rolling to the back in pleasure.
It was their first night together and the two grew closer after that day. It was the first time that destiny decided to talk and simply, one day Sungmin received an SOS call from Eunhyuk informing him that Kyuhyun had just got into an accident.
He fidgeted impatiently all the way towards the hospital and dropped down onto his knees weakly as soon as they told him Kyuhyun only had a 20% chance of living. But Kyuhyun fought. He fought the talking destiny that was having its first attempt of breaking them apart and he survived. He came back after weeks of coma and his first word as soon as he woke up was, “Sungmin”.
“Min, Kyuhyun’s awake,” Shindong said. Sungmin was at that time, buying them foods in the hospital’s cafeteria. “And he’s looking for you.”
Sungmin literally dropped all of the food packets that he was carrying and ran back to Kyuhyun’s room. Zhoumi, SM’s new trainee was the only one in there. “Kyu,” he whispered, seeing his lover awake.
“M-Ming,” Kyuhyun croaked out.
Sungmin smiled, crying tears of joy and rushed to the younger’s side. “I love you,” he whispered as he bended down, giving Kyuhyun a gentle kiss. “I love you. I love you, I love you,” he repeated.
“I love you too,” Kyuhyun said, voice soft.
“Don’t talk,” Sungmin said. “Your throat is still unwell.”
Kyuhyun smiled weakly. “K-kiss me again,” he managed to say and Sungmin needed no telling, he bended down again despite the awkward position. He kissed Kyuhyun, letting out all of his relief, pain and love that he had been keeping in ever since Kyuhyun was in a coma.
The second time that destiny talked, their relationship shook just a little. Kyuhyun has been placed in another one Super Junior’s subgroup called Super Junior Mandarin. SJM for short. Sungmin was delighted for his lover but it didn’t last for long.
One day, after Super Junior M’s practice, Sungmin had decided to give Kyuhyun a surprise when he caught Zhoumi confessing to Kyuhyun. He dropped the plastic bag that he was carrying. It contained the food that Sungmin had packed for his beloved lover and it dropped with a big clang. “M-Ming…” Kyuhyun stuttered. “W-when did you get here?”
“I-I’ve got to go,” Sungmin muttered, running out of the practice room hurriedly.
“MING!” Kyuhyun yelled. “Sorry ZhouMi, I love him, that won’t change. I’ll see you around. Bye.”
The latter then ran after his crying lover. Just as he predicted, Sungmin ran to the building’s rooftop. He had told Kyuhyun once that SM’s building has the best rooftop he had ever seen and that it gave him great peace. “Ming-ah,” Kyuhyun called out.
“G-go away,” Sungmin hiccupped. “I-I don’t want to see you!”
“Aww baby,” Kyuhyun cooed. “Don’t be like this to me.”
“Go back to your Zhoumi!”
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes as he hugged his lover from the back, burying his head in between Sungmin’s warm shoulder blades. “I love you,” he whispered. “Only you.”
“R-really?” Sungmin asked. “Y-you’re not lying, right?”
“Turn around, look at me,” Kyuhyun ordered. “Look into my eyes.”
Sungmin turned, gazing directly into the younger’s eyes. “Am I lying?” Kyuhyun breathed against his face, voice deep. He knew Sungmin read him like an open book. Sungmin sees through everyone.
“N-no,” Sungmin mumbled.
“Alright, that’s my bunny,” Kyuhyun beamed. “Let’s go back to the dorm, okay?”
“W-wait,” Sungmin said.
“What is it?”
“Zhoumi… what are you going to do about him? He loves you,” Sungmin muttered
“Ming, I can’t do anything if he loves me. The only thing you need to know is that I love you,” Kyuhyun answered steadily, but something flashes across his eyes momentarily and it was the first time Sungmin was unable to read it..
“Okay,” Sungmin finally answered but from that day onwards, their relationship wasn’t as close as they were before.
Then came Super Junior’s debut in China. Kyuhyun had to leave Sungmin for almost a year and Zhoumi would be with him the whole way. Sungmin trusted his lover of course but who he didn’t trust is Zhoumi. Oh, you don’t know how the petite male stalked them through the television and internet. Zhoumi loves skinships with Kyuhyun. He just have to touch Kyuhyun whenever he talks and to make matters worse, the fans now came up with a new pairing called QMi. What the fuck is that?
When Super Junior M members came back, Sungmin knew there was something wrong. Kyuhyun greeted him as per usual, hugging him tightly and kissed him till he was left breathless but Sungmin knew even if Kyuhyun tried his best to hide it from him. Sungmin always knows.
“You slept with him didn’t you?” he asked just as night presents itself and Kyuhyun lay down beside him.
Kyuhyun froze. “I-I…” he tried saying.
“Let’s sleep, I’m tired,” Sungmin interrupted.
“M-Ming.”
“Let’s sleep,” Sungmin repeated, pulling Kyuhyun into his arms out of habit. Kyuhyun sighed and relaxed himself in Sungmin’s arms burying his face deep into his chest. “I love you Ming,” he mumbled.
“Hmm,” was all that Sungmin replied.
Kyuhyun was confused you could say that Sungmin didn’t bring up the matter again. Sungmin still treated him as he usually does and it left Kyuhyun wondering why?
But he was Sungmin after all and Sungmin is a great actor. He was hurting, very, very badly. Kyuhyun, even if he didn’t notice it yet, was spending more and more time with Zhoumi. He talked about Zhoumi a hell lot to Sungmin and told Sungmin how nice Zhoumi had been to him.
The third time destiny decided to talk; it took away Sungmin's grandmother leaving Sungmin stunned. He rushed back home, crying. It took him a week, but he calmed down soon after. His grandmother was always someone he treasure and love. Her leaving was quite a large hit on him. But what was a larger hit onto him was what awaits him back in the dorm.
He had decided to surprise Kyuhyun by coming home earlier than expected but no, Kyuhyun wasn’t the one surprised. It was Sungmin. He figured out then that surprising Kyuhyun was never a good thing.
He caught Kyuhyun and Zhoumi on their bed, making out while already half naked. Kyuhyun was practically begging for more. They pair didn’t even realized Sungmin who was crying by the door, not even when the latter slammed the door shut soon later. He ran to the room of the first person he could think of- Hyukjae.
“Hyung, you’re back!” Hyukjae greeted cheerfully. “I thought you’ll be back tomor- wait, are you… What happened?!”
Hyukjae had only seen Sungmin cried once and that was when… the incident happened. He didn’t even cry when Kyuhyun was in a coma, he was always strong. But now, Sungmin was hiccupping, gasping for air as he cried, arms weak as if begging for Hyukjae to embrace him and Hyukjae did.
He took the older male into his arms, thanking the heavens silently that Donghae wasn’t home yet. “What happened? Who hurt my little bunny?” Hyukjae cooed.
“H-Hyuk,” Sungmin hiccupped clutching onto the younger’s shirt desperately. “K-Kyuhyun…Zhoumi…m-my bed… s-sex…I-I…. don’t…d-die….h-heart…”
Despite Sungmin's incoherent words, Hyukjae who had been by the older male for over 10 years understood. “They are doing what?!” he yelled and made to release Sungmin and stormed towards the other sinful bedroom when Sungmin grabbed his arms and buried himself into his embrace again. “D-don’t go,” he begged.
“Hyung,” Hyukjae whispered, hugging the male tighter. “I’m here don’t cry…”
“H-hurts…” Sungmin managed to choke out. “A-a lot…”
Hyukjae understood. “I know,” Hyukjae muttered. “But what did I tell you before? Do you remember?”
Sungmin nodded so child likely against his chest that Hyukjae can’t help but to smile fondly. “Alright, repeat what I said,” he whispered.
“G-guys who make Lee S-Sungmin c-cry are j-jerks,” Sungmin repeated obediently. “T-they will s-suffer t-terribly in hell.”
“That’s my little angel,” Hyukjae chuckled affectionately as he pulled Sungmin onto the bed, lying down beside each other like the old times.
“I-I don’t want to sleep,” Sungmin sobbed.
“No, you will sleep,” Hyukjae ordered.
“D-don’t tell anyone…” Sungmin whispered.
“B-but Min…” Hyukjae tried saying.
“Please,” Sungmin begged. “I-it’s embarrassing enough to be cheated on.”
Hyukjae finally nodded. “I’m sorry Min,” he breathed against the older’s face and pulled the male into his arms again. On instinct, Sungmin buried his face deep into Hyukjae's bony but warm chest. “I’m sorry that you’re hurt again.”
He heard Sungmin sobbed softly onto his chest but did nothing about it, knowing that the older male needed some silence too. Soon, Sungmin's grip slackened around his waist and he knew Sungmin was asleep. Donghae chose that very moment to barge into the room, looking simply worn out.
“Hyuk!” he yelled cheerfully.
“SHH!”
“Why must I- oh,” Donghae gasped seeing the sleeping Sungmin in his lover’s arms. Even from the side view, Donghae can see Sungmin's reddened eye and he simply took it that the male still hasn’t gotten over his grandmother’s death. It took him three months after all to get over his father’s death.
/Morning
Sungmin was the first one up and he decided to take a long cold bathe to rid himself of all traces of him crying and to prepare himself for another day of pure façade.
The members were still not awake as he finished bathing. He decided to wear one of Hyukjae's long button-up t-shirt because he can’t possibly go back to his room with Zhoumi still there. After dressing up and practically not caring about how he looks, he tied his long hair and cooked up some simple breakfast- fried rice and some strawberry waffles to thank Hyukjae.
It was after he was done cooking that everyone started coming out of their rooms. It was Eeteuk first, followed by Heechul and the whole lower dorm came up soon after. Apparently Ryeowook had went on a no-cooking strike there after the others didn’t want to do the dishes. It was lucky that Sungmin had cooked enough.
“M-Ming?” it was the one voice that he didn’t want to hear but nevertheless, he took in one deep breath and turned around.
“Oh hello Kyuhyun,” he greeted casually as he went passed the male and put down the milk on the table.
“W-when did you get back?”
“Yea Min, I thought you’re coming back tonight?” Eeteuk asked a little concerned.
“I came back last night,” Sungmin shrugged and saw Zhoumi and Kyuhyun froze. “Surprise I guess.”
“Min~” Hyukjae's whined came before anyone can speak. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
Everyone turned, eyeing the both of them. “You slept in Hyukjae's room last night?” Eeteuk questioned, zeroing in onto Sungmin's choice of clothes.
“I can’t believe you stole my favourite shirt,” Hyukjae whined again, huffing childishly.
“Sit down monkey,” Sungmin laughed, forcing Hyukjae to sit down. “I made your favourite waffle. Fair?”
Hyukjae beamed, showing his full set of tooth along with his adorable gum. “Fair,” he declared.
“Donghae's out already,” he told Hyukjae even though the latter didn’t ask. They knew each other well enough to know what they’re thinking. “He has schedules. He’ll call you, he said.”
Hyukjae nodded and shrugged, beaming again as he stuffed the fifth waffle into his mouth. “Eat like a human,” Sungmin scolded.
Little did they realized, the other 12 had been watching their affectionate exchange. “What exactly happened?” Kangin asked, just as curious as the rest. “Why didn’t you go back to your room last night?”
“Nothing, just figured sleeping with my bestfriend is fine,” Sungmin shrugged, looking at the members again with the shield around him that the members couldn’t see through.
“Why?” Heechul pressed on.
“Why exactly are you guys being so nosy?” Sungmin countered. “I just figured Kyuhyun could managed without me last night, right Kyu?”
Kyuhyun froze again. So did Zhoumi. They knew they were caught. “What do you mean he could managed? And why the hell were you limping Kyu?” Heechul hissed.
“I would appreciate it that we eat and not get on my nerves so early in the morning,” Sungmin finally snapped. The members' eyes widended, taken aback. Sungmin was speaking exactly like the old Sungmin. There was no more bubbly Sungmin and they were right. Sungmin took out his mini nunchucks from the shirt’s pocket. “Eat now.” he threatened. The members needed no telling as all of them dig into the foods without any words. “I’m done,” Sungmin declared suddenly. “I can go in the room now can I Kyuhyun?”
Kyuhyun looked up, eyes fearful. “Y-yea…”
“Why are you asking his perm-”
“Shut up,” Sungmin snarled, silencing Heechul again. “Hyuk, I want to go out. Eat quickly and follow me will you?”
Hyukjae beamed, the only one not threatened by Sungmin's threats. “Okay, give me 10 minutes Minnie,” he said.
“Thanks,” Sungmin smiled gratefully and bended down to give Hyukjae a fond peck on the cheeks before walking towards his room probably to change
The other 12 blinked, as confused as ever. Firstly, Sungmin is never affectionate in public, not even to Kyuhyun. Secondly, Sungmin was the precise copy of Heechul. He won’t stand it when his dongsaengs use informal language. Kyuhyun was an exception before well because he’s Sungmin's lover, right?
Wrong.
“M-Ming?” Kyuhyun tried calling just as Hyukjae and him was about to leave the dorm.
“Didn’t anyone tell you that I’m older Kyuhyun?” Sungmin snapped.
“W-what?” Kyuhyun asked, confused.
“Call me hyung, I’m older,” Sungmin snarled. “Let’s go Hyuk. We’re late.”
As soon as the duo left, the members turned and faced Kyuhyun. “What did you do?!” they synchronized.
“Talk to him Min,” Hyukjae said as soon as they were in the elevator.
“Give me time Hyuk,” Sungmin whispered.
“I know,” Hyukjae said. “But you’re hurting.”
“Let’s just sit at the garden?” Sungmin suggested.
“You bring me out just to go to the dorm’s garden?” Hyukjae asked. “Unbelievable.”
“Hyuk,” Sungmin warned, waving his nunchucks in the younger’s face.
"Come on Minnie,” Hyukjae scoffed. “Seriously? I’ve been with you for more than 10 years, you can’t expect me to fall for that.”
Sungmin burst of laughing. “Yea, that’s dumb,” he muttered.
“You won’t even hurt an ant,” Hyukjae stated. “Stop making it look like you’re such a jerk.”
“I hate injustice,” Sungmin explained. “You should know that more than anyone.”
“Yea, but everyone thinks you’re going to hurt them if they annoy you when you didn’t even try to get near them,” Hyukjae scoffed.
“Its kind of fun,” Sungmin chuckled darkly. “Why don’t you try it? You’re decent with the nunchucks anyway,”
“No thank you,” Hyukjae rolled his eyes as they sat down on a bench. “It was painful learning how to use it and you forced me to learn it.”
“I want my best buddy protected that’s all,” Sungmin said, smiling.
Hyukjae rolled his eyes once again. “Whatever Min,” he said. “Now don’t try to change the topic. Tell me what you’re going to do now?”
Sungmin sighed, knowing that nothing will escape his best friend. “I don’t know Hyuk,” he muttered. “Sometimes when I think too long, I think it was my fault too.”
“Stop Min,” Hyukjae growled. “You’re going to blame yourself again. This always happens. I’m tired of this. Please stop Min. This is not your fault.”
“I don’t know!” Sungmin said, yelling a little.
“You always blame yourself,” Hyukjae sighed. “I had enough! You blame yourself for everything even when Jinyoun- oh no.”
Sungmin chuckled. “It’s okay, I figured you’ll bring it up,” Sungmin said.
“I’m so sorry,” Hyukjae said, begging.
“I’m fine Hyuk, really,” Sungmin assured.
“Min, I-”
“Do you think that’s the reason Hyuk?”
“What?”
“Maybe Kyuhyun found out and think that I’m not pure enough for him?” Sungmin whispered softly.
“WHAT?!” Hyukjae exclaimed shocked at his bestfriends thoughts. “You think just because you’re not virgin that Kyuhyun wou-”
“You’re not virgin before us?” a new voice interrupted and both male looked up to see a stun Kyuhyun. “You told me you were.”
“Kyuhyun I-”
“I don’t want to hear it!” Kyuhyun yelled. “And stop calling me Kyuhyun!”
“But your name is Kyuhyun,” Sungmin said.
“Since when do you call me Kyuhyun?” Kyuhyun snapped. “Is this why? You found your first love that took your virginity away back? Is it?!”
Before Sungmin could answer, the latter had ran back up to the dorm. “I’m going to kill him,” Hyukjae hissed, storming after Kyuhyun.
“Let me talk to him Hyuk,” Sungmin said, grabbing Hyukjae's arms. “Let’s go back up together and I’ll talk to him. You have Strong Heart in 3 hours time anyway.”
Hyukjae sighed, clenching his fist. “Just hold this,” Sungmin said, handing Hyukjae his nunchucks. “I feel like I’m going to use it somehow, so hold it before I regret doing something stupid.”
Hyukjae nodded, pocketing the weapon as they entered the dorm. “What happened guys?” Eeteuk asked. Clearly he saw Kyuhyun crying on his way back to their room.
“I’ll talk to him,” Sungmin said, sparing Zhoumi a glare on his way to the room.
“Kyuhyun?” Sungmin called out as he entered their room.
“Get out!” Kyuhyun yelled.
“Kyu, listen to me first.”
“Oh, now you call me ‘Kyu’,” Kyuhyun snorted.
“What’s wrong with you?” Sungmin asked calmly but the sharpness was still there.
“You lied to me!” Kyuhyun yelled again.
“I didn’t meant to,” Sungmin said.
“Liar!” Kyuhyun shouted.
“Kyu-”
“Is that why you didn’t care that I slept with Zhoumi?!” Kyuhyun yelled before he could stop himself and for the first time, Sungmin’s face contorted in anger causing Kyuhyun to take a step back in fear.
“Say that again,” he hissed.
“I-is that why you didn’t care?!” Kyuhyun repeated just as loudly.
“Repeat. That. Again,” Sungmin snarled.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Kyuhyun yelled and the next moment, he was already down on the floor, having being slapped by a fuming Sungmin.
“Filthy being,” Sungmin hissed.
“Whose JInyoung?!” Kyuhyun challenged again, standing up. “Is he one of your many sluts that you sleep with? Is that why didn’t bother making a fuss that I slept with Zhoumi?!”
“I didn’t bother making a fuss because sleeping with Zhoumi was a mistake, right?” Sungmin growled, eyes widening at the younger male.
Kyuhyun flinched. “Zhoumi wasn’t a mistake!” he screamed. “Zhoumi is never a mistake. He was honest and I was really his first! You were a mistake! I shouldn’t have gotten together with you! You were the biggest mistake of my entire life! When I woke up from my coma, the first person I saw was Zhoumi while you were busy buying food!”
Sungmin's reaction was not even close to what Kyuhyun had expected it’ll be. He had expected Sungmin to scream at him again but instead, the male’s face softened at his words. Softened in pain.
Kyuhyun frowned as Sungmin took in a deep breath and his frown deepened as Sungmin looked up; the mask that nobody could see through was up. His face was calm and eyes hazy. Kyuhyun was never good at reading eyes but the look in Sungmin's eyes made his heart skipped a beat, in fear.
“If you had told me sooner,” Sungmin said slowly. His calmness scared Kyuhyun a little. “It wouldn’t be this complicated.”
“What?”
“I knew you love him, I just thought I was half as good as Zhoumi,” Sungmin continued. “It would have been a clean break if you just told me sooner.”
“M-Ming,” Kyuhyun tried saying, suddenly regretting what he had said. No, he didn’t mean it. He was just impulsive and angry.
“See you around,” Sungmin smiled weakly. Kyuhyun could feel his heart break at the older’s forced smile. “Goodbye Kyu…hyun.”
And Sungmin left the room, leaving behind a stun and sobbing Kyuhyun.
_
“M-Min?” Eeteuk called as Sungmin stepped out of his room. The members in the dorm had heard their whole conversation.
“Oh hyung?” Sungmin beamed. “You’re still here? I thought you need to head to the hairdresser’s already?”
“O-oh?” Eeteuk stammered, taken aback at Sungmin's composed attitude. “Y-yea, I’m going in 20 minutes.”
“Okay,” Sungmin nodded. “I’m going to take a walk in the park. I’ll be passing by the supermarket, do you guys want anything?”
The members blinked, trying to see through Sungmin's armour that he had put on. “No?”
“I’m out of Strawberry milk hyung,” Hyukjae spoke up and he exited his room and when the other members glared at him he exclaimed defensively, “What?! I can’t live without my milk!”
“Alright,” Sungmin chuckled fondly as he gave Hyukjae a peck on the cheeks again. “Thank you Hyuk,” he whispered softly, just enough for Hyukjae alone to hear him.
Hyukjae stared at the older’s retreating back, confused at his words but as the door shut behind Sungmin his face contorted in anger.
“How could you ask him to buy you stra-” but before Eeteuk could finish rambling, Hyukjae stopped him with a rare glare.
“Get Kyuhyun out,” he ordered looking at particularly nobody.
“What?” the members synchronized, not used to a fuming Hyukjae.
“Get. The. Fucking. Bastard. Out. Here. Right. Now,” Hyukjae snarled, whipping out Sungmin's nunchucks from his back pocket.
“You can’t expect to threaten us with that,” Heechul scoffed. “You don’t even know how to use it. SIwon, take it away from him.”
Siwon looked at Heechul warily for a moment before standing up to take the weapon away from Hyukjae but as he came a feet away from Hyukjae, he was already whipped to the floor.
The members gasped. “I’m not playing around,” Hyukjae hissed. “Someone get him out here before I go in there and kill him.”
Ryeowook and Henry stood up hurriedly and rushed into Kyuhyun's room, bringing the latter out soon after, by force.
“Siwon, get up and don’t be a kid,” Hyukjae ordered to the wincing Siwon on the floor. Heechul huffed, helping Siwon up.
“You,” Hyukjae snarled, pointing the nunchucks towards Kyuhyun. “Come here.”
“What?” Kyuhyun retorted. “You’re not the boss of me!”
“I said come here before I’ll kill you,” Hyukjae threatened.
When the younger male still didn't budge, Hyukjae threw the metallic nunchucks towards his leg. Kyuhyun screamed, and dropped onto his knees, left leg bleeding.
“Kyuhyun!” Eeteuk yelled, and made to rush to the younger’s side.
“One person get near him, I won’t spare you,” Hyukjae warned and Eeteuk warily went back to his seat and watched wide eyed at the scene before him, like the other members.
Hyukjae stormed towards Kyuhyun's side and picked him up by the collar. “Get up,” he ordered.
“Sungmin was a mistake to you?” he asked sharply.
“W-what?” Kyuhyun stammered and received a hard punch to his head.
“If Sungmin doesn’t dare to use this weapon,” Hyukjae started holding out the nunchucks with his free hand. “I will.”
“What do you mean doesn’t dare?” Heechul scoffed. “He took it out all the time.”
“Has he even used it once?” Hyukjae asked, not even bothering to look at Heechul.
“No?”
“And?” Hyukjae asked.
“And what?” Heechul hissed.
“And you think he’ll ever used it? You asked him to kill a fly before didn’t you? Did he kill it?”
“Err, no. He opened the window and let it out,” Heechul answered a little too obediently.
“You guys are really dumb if you ever think that he’ll even used it for real,” Hyukjae scoffed.
“What had that got to do with me?” Kyuhyun interrupted.
“Jinyoung,” Hyukjae breathed against the younger’s face threateningly. “Shin Jinyoung. Ask the members who he is.”
“What? Why?” Kyuhyun answered, not wanting to know who took Sungmin's virginity away.
“Shin Jinyoung!” Hyukjae screamed in his face. “Someone tell him something about Jinyoung!”
“J-Jinyoung hyung?” Ryeowook spoke up. “W-what has he got to do with anything?”
“Tell him!” Hyukjae yelled.
“He was a former SM’s trainee but he left a month before you joined,” Ryeowook told Kyuhyun, still half confused himself.
“W-why?” Kyuhyun asked, curious now.
“We heard that he drugged another trainee and forced him to bed. Nobody really knows who,” Ryeowook said.
Kyuhyun's eyes widened. “W-was Sungmin t-the-”
“Yes you fucking idiot!” Hyukjae screamed. “Sungmin was the one he drugged!”
The members gasped. “W-we didn’t know!” Eeteuk yelled. “Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Shut up,” Hyukjae hissed. “Now, do you understand why he told you he was virgin?!”
Kyuhyun nodded fearfully, gazing at Hyukjae and felt another punch in his stomach again. “He was practically raped goddamnit!” Hyukjae yelled. “And you expected him to tell you that?! He was afraid that you!”
“I-I-”
“But even if he wasn’t raped and lied to you about his virginity, you were the one who cheated on him!” Hyukjae screamed. “And you were angry at him?! You fucking slept with Zhoumi! Sungmin loved you and pretended that it was only once it China but he knew! We all knew!”
“W-what?”
“Donghae's room what beside yours for goodness sake!” Hyukjae yelled. “You fucking bastard!”
Kyuhyun doubled back in pain again as Hyukjae gave him two punches on the stomach and one on the head.
“Get Zhoumi in here now,” Hyukjae ordered and this time the members needed no telling and Eeteuk ran to get Zhoumi from the lower dorm. In two minutes, Zhoumi was already beside Hyukjae.
“W-what’s happening?” he stammered.
“Get on your knees,” Hyukjae ordered.
“What?”
Hyukjae didn’t gave the latter a chance as he used the nunchucks and knocked Zhoumi down onto his knees. “You knew he was with Sungmin you fucking whore,” he cursed.
“I-I’m sorry,” Zhoumi sobbed.
“If I see one drop of tear from you'll really regret that you were even born,” Hyukjae warned. Zhoumi bit his lips, supressing his tears.
“You were Zhoumi’s first?” Hyukjae chuckled darkly.
“Y-yes,” Kyuhyun answered
“How many men did you sleep with before Kyuhyun?” Hyukjae asked, not bothering to look at Zhoumi.
“W-what?”
“How many?!” Hyukjae screamed.
“T-ten,” Zhoumi muttered.
Hyukjae chuckled. “Nice catch Kyuhyun,” he whispered menacingly.
“Y-you lied?” Kyuhyun asked, looking at Zhoumi but Zhoumi wouldn’t meet his eyes.
“Why did you sleep with Kyuhyun Mi?” Hyukjae asked, smirking.
“I l-love him,” Zhoumi said and this time, Hyukjae knocked him over by the head with a powerful kick.
“Don’t give me that shit!” he yelled. “You hated that Sungmin had everything. You hated Sungmin for being perfect, didn’t you?! You don’t even have an inch amount of feelings for Kyuhyun!”
Zhoumi shivered, sobbing. “Get up you fucking whore,” Hyukjae screamed, pulling him by the hair and throwing him towards Heechul.
“Sungmin looked up to you,” Hyukjae said. “So I trust you take care of this bitch here.”
“He does?” Heechul asked, shocked.
“Yes, why do you think he let you go for kissing him?” Hyukjae rolled his eyes.
A sudden bright shimmer crossed Heechul's eyes and he glared at Zhoumi. “Don’t worry, I will,” he smirked, pulling Zhoumi out of the dorm, probably to the lower dorm.
“You are dead,” the members heard Heechul laughed as the door closed.
“Now, what do I do with you?” Hyukjae wondered mockingly as he looked at the frozen Kyuhyun.
“W-what?” Kyuhyun asked.
“I regret giving him up to you,” Hyukjae snarled.
“What are you talking about?”
“He was with me before he fell in love with you,” Hyukjae growled. “I fucking regret giving him up.”
“Y-you… why don’t we know about this?” Eeteuk asked.
“You guys are dumb, I’ve said it before remember,” Hyukjae scoffed. “Why did you even think it took me and Donghae two years to get together?”
“Donghae knew?”
“Yes,” Hyukjae sighed exasperatedly.
“He cheated on you, why aren’t you angry?” Kyuhyun asked.
“Cheated?!” Hyukjae screamed and kneed Kyuhyun's stomach. “He didn’t cheat on me! He had the decency to break up cleanly with me two months before you got together. You on the other hand, cheated on Sungmin. And I won’t let that pass.”
“I-I’m sorry,” Kyuhyun sobbed. “I-I’m sorry…”
“Do you know what he did to Eeteuk when Eeteuk shunned you for your watery ramen?! Do you know what he did to Heechul hyung when Heechul hyung tripped you? Do you know what he did to Kangin hyung when Kangin hyung knocked you over? DO YOU FUCKING KNOW HOW MUCH HE SUFFERED BECAUSE OF YOU?!”
Kyuhyun froze, tears running down guiltily. “And do want to know why Sungmin was buying food when you woke up from your coma?! It was because we forced him! We had to force Zhoumi to take care of you for 20 minutes! Zhoumi was complaining that it was bothersome!”
“W-what?” Kyuhyun stammered.
Hyukjae rolled his eyes furiously as he continued, “Do you even know Sungmin fainted because he didn’t eat for almost a week just waiting for you? Do you even know that we had to drag him out of the room and ask him to eat? Do you even know that he fainted again after you woke up? Shindong told him that you’re awake and he dropped all of his food to get to you. He fainted again that night and do you fucking know that we almost couldn’t revive him again?! YOU FUCKING, FUCKING, INSOLENT BASTARD! YOU CAUSED HIM SO MUCH TROUBLE AND PAIN AND YET YOU CH-“
But before Hyukjae could say anything more, the door bell rang. He growled and stormed towards the door. As he opened it, a crying Donghae stumbled it. “H-Hyukkie,” Donghae cried, clutching onto his shirt.
“What’s wrong Hae?” Hyukjae asked, embracing his lover. The members had by then surround them.
“S-Sungmin…” was all Donghae managed to say as he pulled the members down towards the lobby. There they saw a crowd of people.
With a shout, Hyukjae managed to clear the crowd and what they saw left them stunned and breathless. Sungmin was lying on the concrete floor, limped tangled in a pool of blood. Hyukjae dropped down to his knees beside his bestfriend, crying rivers.
“M-Min-ah,” he whispered, sobbing as he took the bloody male into his arms despite the others' protest. He looked up slightly with tear filled eyes and broke down all over again as he saw his abandoned strawberry milk beside Sungmin. It was already crushed, just like his bestfriend.
Kyuhyun came, dropping onto his knees beside him. “M-Ming,” he choked. “M-Ming-ah…”
“He jumped,” Donghae informed. “I-I saw him jumped!”
Eeteuk, crying too, took the male into his arms. “Donghae-ah,” he sobbed. “Why does this need to happen?”
And that was the last time destiny talked and this time, it took Sungmin away from Kyuhyun, a little too unceremoniously.
“T-there’s a writing on his arms!” Ryeowook pointed and when Kyuhyun looked at it, his breath hitched, remembering the last words that Sungmin had with him. Sungmin's voice were a whisper, so that the members won’t hear him.
“I’m sorry Kyuhyun,” Sungmin said.
“Why?”
“I’m sorry,” Sungmin repeated, ignoring the younger’s question, smiling weakly.
And right then, Kyuhyun received his answer because right across Sungmin's left arm were the words;
“-For loving you.”
I’m sorry… for loving you.

And right then, Kyuhyun received his answer because right across Sungmin's left arm were the words;
“-For loving you.”
I’m sorry… for loving you.
